Elementary Art (K-5)
The art program is aligned with state and national visual art standards and focuses on objectives in three fundamental areas: visual learning, art and society, and art production. Within these areas students view and discuss art, are exposed to many cultures and historical art perspectives,
and learn how art correlates with academic subjects to reinforce skills and concepts. Students also
begin to bridge their understanding of the principles of design and have greater opportunities to share responsibilities, observe rules, respect each other and care for their environment. Students experience
the joy of producing original art and learn the importance of the many ways art enhances their lives.
The intermediate level also provides a continued understanding of visual literacy and lays the foundation for learning at the middle school level.
