Hi, my name is Marie Yarnell. I teach at Grand Avenue and Spruce Street Elementary schools as well as at the middle school. This is my fourteenth year teaching art, and my fifth year in Sauk Prairie. I received my teaching degree from the University of Wisconsin--La Crosse. I have taught previously in Colorado Springs, CO. and at Marshall Public Schools.
My husband, Randy and I moved back to Wisconsin after our daughter, Allison, was born. She is currently a third grader at Tower Rock. We also have a son, Sawyer, who is four and a black lab, named Taz.
It is hard for me to pick a favorite medium. It seems that each time I work with something I enjoy it, but most often find myself weaving, working with clay, drawing or painting. Other than art, I enjoy spending time with my family, going for walks, gardening, reading, swimming, playing volleyball and cheering on the Packers. Go Pack!!
My goal in the classroom is to pass on my love of art to each and every child. I try to break the projects into simple steps that ensure that all children are successful and can be proud of their work. I am constantly amazed with what children can accomplish with a bit of guidance and encouragement. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to work with the children of Sauk Prairie!
Happy New Year from my family to yours! |
