Ms Krause
This is my 24th year of teaching and 18th year with the Sauk Prairie school district. I have taught art at Spruce Street School for kindergarten through second grade after teaching in the Milwaukee area for six years. My undergraduate degrees are in psychology, anthropology, Spanish, professional art, art special education and art education. I graduated from Carroll University, Mount Mary College, UW Milwaukee and UW- Madison. My post graduate degrees are an Art Therapy License and a Masters degree in Adult education with 56 additional credits in administration.
I love to travel and learn about other cultures and their arts. I lived among various indigenous tribes throughout South America and spent much time in Asia researching language and art techniques. My master’s degree focused on ethnographic interviewing and writing. These interests in art and culture come through in the various projects and techniques I teach about the world we live in.
My goal is to have students see things differently and to share their views of the world around them by expressing themselves through art. Art materials and techniques have changed over time, but teaching the basic elements of design is fundamental to appreciate the beauty around us. Developing the creative process within students allows them to make sense of the world around them, as well as reinforces the skills and learning they acquire in their classes.
